Coronal origins of the solar wind - sources of steady streams and transient flows caused by solar magnetic eruptions
نویسنده
چکیده
The magnetic field of the Sun and the plasma properties of its atmosphere, such as temperature distribution, density stratification, photospheric convection and waves in the corona, determine the origin, energetics and evolution of the solar wind. The solar wind comes in three main kinds, as steady fast streams, variable slow flows and transient slow and fast coronal mass ejections. The three types of solar wind are closely associated with the structure and activity of the coronal magnetic field. The plasma characteristics and magnetic features of the solar wind source regions are reviewed. The boundary conditions in the mostly closed corona (streamers and loops), in the transiently opening corona (eruptive prominences and loops) and in the lastingly open corona (funnels and holes) will be analyzed. The resulting properties of the solar wind are discussed.

Impact of Solar and Interplanetary Disturbances on Space Weather
Solar activity is the dynamic energy source behind all solar phenomena driving space weather. During an active solar period, violent eruptions occur more often on the Sun. The solar flares (SFs) and coronal mass ejections (CMEs) shoot energetic and highly charged particles towards Earth that ensuing ionospheric and geomagnetic disturbances. The some geomagnetic disturbances illuminate night ski...

متن کاملGlobal distribution of the solar wind during solar cycle 23: ACE observations
[1] The composition of the solar wind can be used to determine its origin at the Sun; e.g., solar wind from coronal holes has demonstrably lower charge states than solar wind of other origins. The O/O ratio as measured by Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) during 1998– 2008 is used to divide the solar wind into three categories: non-transient solar wind from coronal holes (hereafter referred t...
متن کاملGeneration of Alfvén Waves by Small-Scale Magnetic Reconnection in Solar Spicules
Alfvén waves dissipation is an extensively studied mechanism for the coronal heating problem. These waves can be generated by magnetic reconnection and propagated along the reconnected field lines. Here, we study the generation of Alfvén waves at the presence of both steady flow and sheared magnetic field in the longitudinally density stratified of solar spicules. The initial flow is assumed to...

Solar mini-dimmings can be detect in the Extreme Ultra-Violet coronal eruptions. Here, sequences of 171_A images taken by Solar Dynamic Observatory/Atmospheric Imaging Assembaly on 13 June 2010 are used. In this special day, both of coronal mass ejection and prominence were observed. The average velocities and accelerations of 500 mini-dimmings which were detected using on feature based classif...
